Who We Are

The year was 1952. The crime? Theft and betrayal. One Basil "Duke" Henning, then-Head of Saybrook College and former Whiffenpoof, stole an arrangement from the Whiffs and presented it to four of his eager first-years. Thus, a group known as The Duke's Men were born.

(Now, we've also heard that the Whiffs stole this same arrangement us. Pick your own narrative, I guess.)

In 2017, we became the first all-gender tenor/bass a cappella group at Yale. We then adapted our longstanding nickname — "Doox" — to better reflect the new composition of the group. Over the past 70 years, Doox has grown from a young quartet into a rambunctious and incredibly close family of more than 400 singers. We’ve won an ICCA Outstanding Arrangement award and have been featured by NPR, the Smithsonian, and our moms’ Facebook pages.

From pop hits to soulful showstoppers, rock ballads to jazz standards, we sing it all. Come give us a listen!
